Robbery suspect, other driver killed in wrong-way crash on Missouri interstate

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Police say that a Missouri robbery suspect was going the wrong way on an interstate highway while trying to evade police and crashed into an SUV, killing both drivers. The accident happened just after 4 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 435 in Kansas City. The names of those killed have not been released. Armed robberies occurred between around 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. at three convenience stores. Soon after the third crime, police saw the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect’s Dodge Challenger began traveling south in the northbound lanes of the interstate. Police say officers halted the pursuit, but the Challenger struck a Chevrolet Equinox head-on. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
