Kansas cold case detectives connect two 1990s killings to the same suspect

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas man is charged with two counts of murder in connection to the deaths of two women in the 1990s. Detectives in a newly formed cold case unit used DNA evidence to identify 52-year-old Gary Dion Davis. The Kansas City Star reports that Davis is jailed on a $500,000 bond. Kansas City Police Chief Karl Oakman and Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree announced the charges Wednesday. Davis was a truck driver in the 1990s. Both killings were in 1996. Detectives also solved two other unrelated cold cases: The death of an infant in 1976 and the killing of a teenager in 1997.
