Homers by Alvarez, Meyers support Valdez’s 7 strong innings in Astros 7-1 win over Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Yordan Alvarez and Jake Meyers homered as Framber Valdez earned his fifth straight quality start in the Houston Astros 7-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. Valdez worked around three Houston errors, allowing just one unearned run over seven innings as the Astros extended their American League West lead over the Texas Rangers to 1 1/2 games. Alvarez connected for his 28th homer and the 38th allowed by Jordan Lyles, matching a Royals record. Bryan Abreu extended his scoreless streak to 21 2/3 innings.
