Kansas City police say baby found dead in Kansas City field

KMIZ

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City police are investigating the death of a baby whose body was found in a field. Police spokesperson Sgt. Jacob Becchina says a caller reported finding the body in the field in east Kansas City on Saturday. Police are waiting for the medical examiner to determine the baby’s gender, age and manner of death. The field is near a wooded area that police and neighbors said is frequented by homeless people. The case is currently a death investigation because so little information is known. Becchina urged anyone who might know what happened to the baby to come forward.
