Gorman hits 2 homers in St. Louis’ 9-4 win over Toronto

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Nolan Gorman had a pair of two-run homers to help the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson added solo shots in the first inning off Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt. Bassitt gave up nine runs on 10 hits over 3 1/3 innings. Bassitt was making his debut for Toronto after signing a 3-year, $63 million deal in the offseason. St. Louis scored 22 runs over the three-game set. Dylan Carlson had three hits for the Cardinals in his season debut. Matt Chapman had three hits for Toronto.
