Missouri Capitol library closed due to safety concerns

KMIZ

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri Capitol library is closed because of safety concerns with the dome ceiling. The Jefferson City News Tribune reported Wednesday that contractors were investigating an overhead crack and found enough problems to prompt an immediate evacuation. A state Senate official told the newspaper that the cost to repair the dome is not yet known. Missouri state lawmakers last year set aside more than $600 million for Capitol repairs and renovations. Historical documents and books housed in the library will be available online or by special request until the ceiling is fixed.
