2 Missouri city officials admit to embezzling $647,000
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Two former officials admitted embezzling about $647,000 over six years from a small St. Louis County town that has an annual budget of about $450,000. The former city clerk of Flordell Hills, 68-year-old Maureen Woodson, pleaded guilty on Monday to mail fraud and wire fraud. She admitted stealing $487,673 from the city of about 1,200 residents. The former assistant clerk, 76-year-old Donna Thompson, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the same charges. She admitted stealing $159,903. The thefts occurred between February 2016 and April 2022. Woodson will be sentenced May 16 and Thompson will be sentenced the next day.
