Man sentenced in stabbing death in southeast Missouri
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years for the stabbing death of a man in Dexter. Joshua Koonce, of Dexter, was sentenced Thursday for second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the June 2018 death of Jimmy Casey. Prosecutors said a home health care worker found Casey dead at his home. An autopsy concluded he had been stabbed five times. Koonce fled to Colorado, where police say he checked into a drug and alcohol detox center under a fictitious name before attempting suicide.
