Missouri police say officer shot person wielding a knife

KMIZ

BUFFALO, Mo. (AP) — Police in the southwestern Missouri town of Buffalo say a knife-wielding person has been shot and injured by an officer there. The Buffalo Police Department says on its Facebook page that the shooting happened Thursday evening when police were called to a business for reports of a person who had entered a business brandishing a knife and making threats. Police say officers found the person walking in and out of traffic along Ash Street and waving a knife. Police say officers unsuccessfully tried several times to disarm the person using non-lethal methods. Police say the person charged an officer with the knife, leading the office to fire two shots. The person was hit and flown to an area hospital. Police have not released the identity of the person shot.
