Pedestrian killed when van drives on St. Louis sidewalk

KMIZ

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A pedestrian was killed Saturday after a minivan veered off the road in St. Louis and drove along a sidewalk. Police said the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. Saturday. Officials said a 35-year-old woman was driving east on Martin Luther King Drive when she crossed through the westbound lanes and struck a building and the man near Deer Street. The van then hit another building before it stopped in a vacant lot and the woman fled on foot. She was arrested a few blocks away. Officers found the man dead at the scene. They did not immediately release his name.
