St. Louis police kill man in apartment complex shootout

KMIZ

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Officials say St. Louis police officers shot and killed a man Friday morning in a shootout at an apartment complex just north of Forest Park. St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden said in a news conference that the shooting happened around 11 a.m. after officers were called to the 275 on the Park apartment complex for reports of a shooting. Officers entered an apartment where they believed the shots had been fired. There, Hayden said, offices confronted an armed man who refused to drop his gun and a gun battle between the man and police ensued. The officers backed out of the apartment, called for backup and later found the man dead inside the apartment. Police have not released the man’s name.
