Officials: 2 killed in Kansas City house fire early Friday

KMIZ

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Fire officials say two people died and one firefighter was injured in an early Friday morning house fire on the north end of Kansas City. Television station WDAF says a neighbor called 911 around 5:40 a.m. to report smoke coming from the house. Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the home. A firefighter who then entered the home through the front door fell through the floor into the basement. Fellow firefighters used a ladder to retrieve their colleague, who was treated for burns and minor injuries. Officials say after the fire was extinguished, crews found the bodies — one male and the other female. Officials have not yet identified the victims. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
