7-year-old Missouri boy dies after falling off a hayride

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — A 7-year-old Missouri boy died Saturday after he fell off a hayrack ride and was struck by the trailer he had been riding in. Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté said on Twitter that the accident was reported around 7:45 p.m. Saturday in a rural area outside Lee’s Summit, Missouri. A Missouri State Highway Patrol report said the boy was “clinging” to the trailer that was being pulled by a John Deere tractor after he fell out of it. The child, who was from Lee’s Summit, died at a hospital Saturday night. The boy’s name was not immediately released because he is was a juvenile.
