Car break-in suspect dies, guard run over outside hospital

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Authorities say a car-break in suspect has died after being shot and a security guard was run over in a confrontation near a St. Louis children’s hospital. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the suspect was shot in the chest around 1:25 a.m. Wednesday near SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Police say he was taken to a hospital, where he died. The hospital guard also was taken to a hospital in critical condition. St. Louis police are investigating. No other details were immediately released about the shooting, including the name of the suspect or the guard.
