Cruising cars divert police attention in St. Louis

KMIZ

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis authorities say a coordinated social media effort resulted in hundreds of cruising cars on city streets Saturday night, causing traffic snarls and forcing police to divert their attention from other calls. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that an estimated 400 to 500 cruising vehicles were on the streets. Police issued around 20 court summonses and Public Safety Director Dan Isom said a “couple” of arrests were made. Isom says it was an event coordinated on social media which “drew cruisers across the region,” though it’s still being investigated as to exactly how the event came together.
