Three teenagers plead not guilty in killing of Kansas man

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) — Three 14-year-olds who are charged in a Kansas man’s shooting death pleaded not guilty in juvenile court to first-degree murder. Court documents say the teenagers pleaded Monday. A fourth teenager, who is also 14, was scheduled to be in court Monday but his hearing was postponed to June 15. They and two 13-year-olds are charged in the May 14 death of 19-year-old Marco Cardino of Smithville, Missouri. He was found dead in his car in an Olathe, Kansas, park. The Johnson County prosecutor is seeking to try the 14-year-olds as adults. Kansas law does not allow 13-year-olds to be tried as adults.
