Leavenworth man pleads guilty in death of pedestrian

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) — A 37-year-old Leavenworth man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a man who was hit by a motorcycle.  Justen Michael McCarter also pleaded guilty Friday to possession of stolen property. Prosecutors say McCarter was driving a stolen motorcycle and speeding in March 2020 when he hit Adam Wheeler, who was crossing a Leavenworth street. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 19.
