DeVries and Drake earn 76-71 OT win over UIC

CHICAGO (AP) — Tucker DeVries scored seven of his 15 points in overtime and Drake defeated UIC 76-71 on Tuesday night.

DeVries also added nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (13-5, 4-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Roman Penn added 15 points while going 4 of 8 and 6 of 10 from the free throw line, and he also had eight assists. Darnell Brodie was 4 of 10 shooting and 6 of 9 from the free throw line to finish with 14 points.

Toby Okani led the Flames (9-9, 1-6) in scoring, finishing with 18 points and two steals. Jace Carter added 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals for UIC. In addition, Filip Skobalj finished with 14 points, six assists and two steals.

Penn scored seven points in the first half for Drake, who trailed 35-30 at halftime. Drake outscored UIC by five points in the second half and the teams finished regulation tied 61-61.

NEXT UP

Both teams next play Saturday. Drake hosts Bradley while UIC visits Murray State.
