Drake secures 82-64 win over Murray State

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — D.J. Wilkins scored 17 points as Drake beat Murray State 82-64 on Saturday night.

Wilkins was 6 of 10 shooting (5 for 8 from distance) for the Bulldogs (12-5, 3-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Darnell Brodie scored 16 points and added seven rebounds. Sardaar Calhoun was 5 of 10 shooting, including 4 for 8 from distance, and went 2 for 3 from the line to finish with 16 points.

The Racers (9-7, 4-2) were led in scoring by Jacobi Wood, who finished with 20 points and two steals. Brian Moore Jr. added 14 points for Murray State. Kenny White Jr. also had nine points.

Drake took the lead with 13:01 left in the first half and did not relinquish it. The score was 44-29 at halftime, with Wilkins racking up 12 points. Drake extended its lead to 57-38 during the second half, fueled by a 7-0 scoring run. Garrett Sturtz scored a team-high 10 points in the second half as his team closed out the win.

Both teams next play Tuesday. Drake visits UIC and Murray State visits Northern Iowa.
