Tracking intense heat over the next several days, storm chances to follow

TONIGHT: Clear but muggy, lows dropping to the mid 70s as dew points remain strong overnight.

TOMORROW: The first of several triple digit heat index days comes tomorrow afternoon, as temperatures climb into the lower 90s. Moisture continues to move into the region bringing heat indexes into the 105 degree range. A Weather Alert Day is in effect through Tuesday for the extreme heat. A slight pop-up chance is in the cards as well.

EXTENDED: Heat and humidity continues to be a problem into Tuesday, with temps in the mid 90s to start the week. The high amount of moisture does lead to a slight chance for a pop-up shower Monday and Tuesday, along with feels-like temps still well into the triple digits. A cold front makes its way into the region overnight Wednesday, which provides some relief from the heat, but increases storm chances at the end of next week. While there is some disagreement on timing, Thursday and Saturday looks to be the best chance for some more prolonged storms, though Friday also carries that potential. Temps will cool to a more seasonable mid-80s with this front.
