COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was charged with two felonies after he allegedly assaulted a victim on May 24.

Moise Habimana, 34, was charged with first-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. An arraignment was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

The probable cause statement says the victim called police on Wednesday after they arrived home and Habimana began threatening them again. The victim allegedly had a broken nose, broken jaw and bruising from the May 24 assault and needed surgery, police wrote.

The statement says Habimana had visitors over to his and the victim’s residence on May 24 and an argument occurred over a child, who is described as “Victim 2.” The victim was planning on leaving for a few days on May 24. Habimana was allegedly intoxicated both days described in the court document.

Habimana allegedly assaulted the victim inside the home while the child sat on the victim, the statement says. The victim was able to kick Habimana and get away and ask for help from the guests outside the home, the statement says.

The victim showed police photographs of their injuries after the attack, the statement says.
