Mid-Missouri athletes earn 15 gold medals on day two of MSHSAA track and field championships
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The first half of the Missouri track and field state championships has reached its conclusion.
Mid-Missouri brought home 14 first-place awards on the second and final day of competition for classes one, two, and three. Three schools also found themselves on the team podium after the two days.
Christian Fellowship's Grace Heston was crowned a triple champion, winning the class one girls' 100, 200, and 400 meter races. Her teammate Lillian Bender was the first across the line in the girls 3200. Boonville's Effie Morris also brought home multiple gold medals, taking the gold in both class three hurdle races for the second consecutive year.
The boys' class three 100 meter dash was the race of the meet, with Southern Boone's Hudson Talley taking the top step after beating Richmond's Malikiah Tharp by 0.006 seconds. Salisbury's Brayden White also went home with gold in the class two 100 meters.
In the field events, Fayette's Rylan Roberts and Carter Vroman took home their second title's on the weekend, with Roberts winning both horizontal jumps, and Vroman taking the class two javelin and discus title. Macon's Jace Miller was also crowned a champion in a javelin competition, this one in the class three section.
Kevin Russell from Vienna dominated in the class one boys' long jump, winning by nearly a full foot, and Pressly Wright won the class one pole vault title for St. Elizabeth.
Christian Fellowship's girls took home a silver trophy in the class one team title race, the highest team finish of any mid-Missouri school in 2026. Fayette's girls and Centralia's boys also went home with hardware, winning bronze in their respective classes.
