Tracking mild temperatures and gusty winds Tuesday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 20s.
TOMORROW: Increasing clouds, warm, and windy with highs in the mid-50s.
EXTENDED: Competing high and low pressure systems will continue to influence our weather over the coming days, especially by tomorrow as low pressure continues to dig along the east coast while high pressure pushes against it, increasing winds. Temperatures are expected to rise from the low 20s into the mid 20s overnight, while sheltered valleys in the southeast may cool into the mid to upper teens due to light winds and clear skies. Southerly winds will increase Tuesday as the pressure gradient tightens across the region. High temperatures will rise into the mid-upper 50s with more clouds working into the region by afternoon. Winds could gust to 35-40 mph during the day. A dry cold front will bring slightly cooler air to the region for Wednesday. High temperatures on Wednesday afternoon are expected to reach the low to mid-50s. Light rain is possible on Wednesday night with a weak low pressure system moves through the region, with less than 0.25" rain possible through Thursday morning. Thursday will be the coolest day of the remainder of the work week, with highs around 50 degrees. Highs get back into the upper 60s on Friday with plenty of sunshine. Our next system looks to move in with a colder air mass from the northwest, dropping us from the 60s on Saturday to the 40s on Sunday, with chances of precipitation possible between Sunday and next Monday.
