Tracking a chilly Monday, windy and warmer tomorrow
THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the lower 30s.
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and cold with lows in the mid-20s.
EXTENDED: As a powerful low pressure system continues to impact New England, strong winds ramp up on Tuesday as high pressure builds to our west. Air will be squeezed between these two systems, allowing for a tight pressure gradient and winds up to 35 mph from the south. With low humidity and continued dry soils, there will be an elevated fire danger on Tuesday. A weak low pressure system moves in from the north, increasing clouds over Mid-Missouri. Highs reach the mid-upper 50s on Tuesday. As a frontal boundary settles to our south on Wednesday, low pressure rides along the boundary and brings a wave of precipitation to the region between Wednesday night and Thursday. Rain amounts look to stay under 0.25", but there could be a few snow showers across northern Missouri before precipitation comes to an end on Thursday morning. The rest of the week looks mild as highs reach the mid-upper 60s on Friday and Saturday. Another low pressure system moves into the region between Saturday night and Sunday, bringing yet another shot at rain and perhaps a few snow showers between Sunday and Monday as temperatures overnight fall to near the freezing mark.
