Tracking more sunshine and gusty winds Wednesday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few spot showers, lows in the lower 50s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 60s to around 70.
EXTENDED: A few spotty showers or rumbles of thunder are possible tonight ahead of a weak front that will clear out clouds for Wednesday. Morning temperatures will remain well above average with lows in the low 50s. A low pressure system currently near the Dakotas is progressing eastward, drawing warm air into the Midwest. Strong winds are expected Wednesday, with low relative humidity, aiding the fire risk through Thursday across Mid-Missouri. Winds could gust to 20-30 mph at times. A cold front moves through early in the day Thursday, but winds take a bit longer to shift from south to west, allowing highs to reach the mid-upper 60s before dropping hard on Thursday night. The most favorable area for any severe weather will lie east of the Mississippi River, where the atmosphere will destabilize early in the day. Behind the front on Thursday night, temperatures drop dramatically into the upper 20s to low 30s, with more sunshine and highs in the low 40s Friday. Another disturbance moves through the region on Saturday, bringing the potential of rain and snow with temperatures near freezing on Saturday morning. Roads are expected to be wet, with snowfall accumulation generally under 0.5 to 1". Precipitation clears out Saturday night, leaving us with a chilly Sunday morning in the lower 20s, and below average highs in the upper 30s.
