Tracking a warm start to the week, cooler by Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy fog by daybreak, lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, breezy, and mild with highs in the mid-upper 60s.

EXTENDED: Temperatures are expected to rise above normal through Monday as skies clear following a weak weather system tonight that could bring a little patchy fog by morning. Monday is expected to be the warmest day of the week as southwesterly flow brings dry and warmer air with highs reaching the mid-upper 60s as winds pick up. Winds will increase from the southwest Monday evening ahead of a stronger cold front. Rain chances are looking low as the cold front passes through fairly quickly on Tuesday morning, bringing a faster cool down to the region. We manage to make it to the 50s before cooling down further by late afternoon. Cooler air sticks around through early Thursday as high pressure sits over the Great Lakes. A weak weather system may approach the region Thursday into early Friday, though there's still some uncertainty on whether the system will bring light rain or no precipitation. A stronger low pressure system is expected to move from the Desert Southwest toward Mid-Missouri late in the week, potentially bringing widespread rain between Friday night and Saturday. The risk for light snow or a rain-snow mix late Friday or Saturday remains low due to a lack of sufficiently cold air. Following the weekend system, extended outlooks favor a return to warmer and slightly more active weather.
