Tracking a beautiful Sunday with warmer temperatures

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: Temperatures across the region are expected to rise five to 15 degrees on Sunday as a cold front presses into the Ohio Valley. A ridge of high pressure is moving into the area, drawing warmer air from the south. The warming trend is expected to continue into Monday with a west-to-east temperature gradient. Mid-Missouri will likely see highs in the low to mid-60s due to stronger southwesterly winds ahead of an approaching front. A cold front moves through the region on Tuesday, making the temperature forecast a bit tricky. North of I-70, the afternoon will be cooler, but points south likely reach into the low 60s again before the front arrives. Rain chances are expected to increase Tuesday afternoon and evening as the front moves through, but the best chances look to be across far southern Missouri closer to the stalled front. Following the Tuesday front, a cooling trend is expected for the remainder of the work week. We'll fall back into the 40s for highs with a chance for a few showers on Thursday. We're keeping an eye on another system that will move in from the southwest late in the week, potentially bringing a healthy dose of rain and gusty winds between Friday night and Saturday. With temperatures near the freezing mark on Saturday morning, there may even be a brief window for a light wintry mix.
