Tracking a cool down and potential for snow showers Thursday evening

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with lows in the low teens.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy and cooler with highs in the lower 20s. A chance of light snow could bring little to no accumulation in the evening.

EXTENDED: Light snow is expected from Thursday afternoon through Thursday night, especially across southern Missouri as a disturbance slides by to our south. No accumulation or a dusting is possible between about sunset and pre-dawn Friday. As a cold wave moves southward into the region, temperatures are expected to struggle into the teens and low 20s from Friday to Saturday, with lows a few degrees below or above zero. Wind chills look to drop to -10 to -15 on Saturday morning, prompting an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. Another weather system is expected to move across the Midwest on Sunday. While this could bring additional precipitation, forecast models disagree on whether this will occur and the likelihood of impactful snowfall remains low. Continue to use caution due to slick roads from some melting/refreezing during the day into the evening.
