Tracking a warm and dry Christmas week
TODAY: Tuesday will be comparable to Monday, after a high near 60° on Monday. We expect to reach near low 60s across the region, with some in the north held in the 50s. Partly cloudy skies are expected overall, but some targeted areas south of I-70 may get stuck under low stratus clouds for much of the morning. This is where we've stayed exceptionally warm overnight, so we still have a shot at 60s here this afternoon. Some drizzle may come from these clouds through the morning.
TONIGHT: This low cloud cover is at the forefront of a warmer airmass that is trying to lift north. This will stick around overnight, allowing some in the north to cool back into the 40s, but keep some in the south in the upper 50s overnight. Clouds will increase late overnight into Wednesday.
EXTENDED: The boundary starts to lift north on Wednesday, but remains nearby. It's close proximity will greatly influence temperatures, and slightly decrease confidence in exact temperatures. Still, the forecast is overwhelmingly warm. Temperatures are forecast in the upper 60s to low 70s Wednesday and Thursday, with a slight cooldown into the 60s Friday and Saturday. We'll have clouds to deal with, but we expect to stay dry, even as a stronger cold front drops highs into the 30s by Sunday and Monday.
