COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people from Sedalia were charged with felonies after they allegedly encouraged two children to fight and were heard encouraging it on a recording they took of the clash.

Austin Barklage and Barbara Dunlap were charged in Pettis County with first-degree accessory to endangering the welfare of a child. Warrants were issued and they are being held on $7,500 bonds.

A person described as a witness allegedly told police on Aug. 14 that they received a video from Barklage that showed the two youths fighting. Barklage and Dunlap were allegedly heard in the video encouraging the children to fight.

A deputy wrote that the video lasted four minutes and both adults were heard “instigating the fight and yelling at them to keep fighting and punching and offering suggestions on how to hit the other.”

One of the youths was allegedly also put in a headlock where their neck “bent in a way that appeared to be dangerously close to causing serious injury or death,” the statement says.

Dunlap allegedly told law enforcement that Barklage sent out the video without her consent, court documents say. The video also allegedly contained nudity at one point, court documents say.

One of the youths allegedly left the residence and Dunlap did not try to reach out to them to confirm their safety or report them missing, the statement says.
