Man charged with rape, sodomy in Phelps County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who resides in Rolla was charged with multiple sex crimes on Tuesday in Phelps County.

Santos Zambrano-Olivia, 54, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. He is being held at the Phelps County Jail on a $250,000 bond. A court date has not been scheduled.

The probable cause statement says Zambrano-Olivia raped a home health care worker who was taking care of someone else at a residence on July 25. A security camera at the front of the home allegedly indicated that Zambrano-Olivia was in the home that night for about 40 minutes.

Zambrano-Olivia allegedly gave several conflicting statements to law enforcement regarding how he previously interacted with the victim and the timeframe in which a sexual encounter occurred, according to court documents. Zambrano-Olivia then allegedly claimed he had consensual sex with the victim, court documents say.
