Tracking a warmer week with late week showers and storms
TODAY: Monday is a largely dry day here in mid-Missouri, but clouds will increase as a weak disturbance passes through the region. We can't 100% rule out a sprinkle, but we can say it's incredibly unlikely. Temperatures remain mild, in the low 60s this afternoon. Winds are light from the west.
TONIGHT: The back half of the disturbance will roll through overnight. We'll stay dry and cloudy.
EXTENDED: An enhancement of wind will fill in behind the disturbance from the west northwest, raising wind speeds to 15-25 mph sustained, with gusts reaching 35 mph at times. Fortunately, relative humidity is forecast to remain above 30% with highs only in the 60s. However, if our partly cloudy day becomes abundantly sunny, and temperatures climb, this could change. We'll be monitoring these variables in regard to our fire weather forecast, but for now no alerts have been issued. Wednesday is a sunny day with highs in the 60s and a relaxed breeze. We'll have a pattern change arriving by Thursday, as a warm front is forecast to bring a shift in flow, but also a chance for thunderstorms. Scattered storms will work from south to north along the front some time Thursday, leaving us warmer - in the 70s - through the rest of the week and into the weekend. We'll reach 70s Saturday afternoon as a chance for storms builds ahead of and along a cold front that will move through some time Sunday. The timings of the larger features of the forecast are uncertain, so exacting timing of storm chances on Saturday and Sunday is also still to be determined. The timing variable will also impact high temperatures on Sunday, possibly keeping us in the 60s.
