Two juveniles detained for alleged vehicle theft attempt in Columbia

Two juveniles were detained for allegedly trying to steal multiple vehicles, according to Columbia police.

A Saturday release from police says the juveniles were detained in connection with the attempted theft of at least eight vehicles around midnight Jan. 17.

The thefts occurred in the area of North Cedar Lake Drive and Southhampton Drive, the release states.

The juveniles were detained on charges of first-degree attempted tampering, first-degree property damage, stealing, resisting arrest, and armed criminal action, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
