At least one person displaced after Sedalia house fire

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Sedalia Fire Department is investigating after a home caught fire Sunday afternoon.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Shaw, the fire department responded to a home in the 1300 block of East 11th Street around 1:45 p.m.

The fire reportedly started in the area near a furnace. The flames spread into the walls, causing electrical damage.

Fire crews had to shut off power and gas to the home.

Fire officials said the Red Cross has been contacted and will work with the homeowner.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
