COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

8-10 utility vehicles are considered a loss after a fire Saturday night, according to the Columbia Fire Department.

Capt. Zachary Grace told an ABC 17 News reporter on scene crews were called to the 5700 block of Freedom Drive around 5:30 p.m. after Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer spotted the fire while driving along Interstate 70.

According to CFD, crews faced a rapidly progressing fire coming from multiple utility vehicles in the Head Motor Company's parking lot. The fire was spreading quickly, endangering the building.

Crews on scene prevented the fire from spreading to the building and limited the loss to 8-10 utility vehicles.

Fire marshals and the Columbia Police Department are working to figure out the cause of the fire, according to CFD.

Grace said no injuries were reported in the fire.

An ABC 17 News reporter on scene saw at least four CFD trucks, an MU Health Care ambulance and a CPD vehicle on scene.
