Three sent to the hospital following early morning fire in Sedalia
SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Three people were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out in a building early Sunday morning in Sedalia, according to a social media post from the Sedalia Fire Department.
According to the post, crews responded to smoke in a building at 419 West Main Street at 2:38 a.m. Crews were able to locate a fire on the ground floor of 421 W. Main Street and extinguish it.
The post states it was discovered that the fire had spread to the second floor of the building.
The fire eventually spread through the building's roof and began to grow due to wind and failed windows of the second floor. This caused crews to leave the building and begin a defense operation.
The fire was considered under control at 5:34.
Three people from the building were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The extent of their injuries is not stated in the post.
Two pets were found and rescued from the building. One was still unaccounted for as of Sunday evening.
No fire personnel were injured in the fire, the post states.
The department shut down the area and some roads near W. Main St. and S. Vermont and asked the public to avoid the area while crews worked.
