Law enforcement looks for driver following chase on I-70

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Area law enforcement are searching an area for a driver allegedly involved in a chase.

Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Kyle Green told ABC 17 News in a text message that Boone County deputies tried to stop a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle drove eastbound on Interstate 70 and crashed near Midway, Green wrote. The driver of the vehicle then ran into the woods, Green wrote.

The vehicle had crashed near Highway 40 near Midway. Law enforcement officers were seen searching in and around the vehilce.

Four Boone County Sheriff's deputy patrol vehicles, a Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicle and an ambulance were at the scene. .

A Boone County deputy at the scene said there’s no threat to the public and law enforcement plans on looking at cameras in the area to determine where the driver ran to.

The scene cleared at 10:53 p.m.
