Mizzou football falls out of AP Top-25
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Following a heartbreaking loss in rivalry action against South Carolina on Saturday, the Mizzou football team dropped out of the AP Top-25.
It's the second time since Week 11 of the college football season that head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company have fallen out of the Associated Press' Top-25 teams in the nation.
In Week 12, Mizzou found itself ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the College Football Playoff selection committee rankings. Of course, the Tigers have already found out their AP fate, but the latest College Football Playoff list will be released on Tuesday night.
MU also fell out of the coaches poll, on Sunday, with the loss to the Gamecocks. However, Drinkwitz's team is still receiving votes in each of the polls they were dropped from.
The tumble out of the rankings, comes after MU's second half comeback bid fell just short in Columbia East, on Saturday night. Despite quarterback Brady Cook making an inspiring return from injury and leading three second half touchdown drives, the Gamecocks came out on top to claim the Mayor's Cup trophy for the first time in five seasons.
After the win, South Carolina is the No. 19-ranked team in the land.
