COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man has been charged with a pair of misdemeanors in a fatal crash that occurred in north Columbia in May.

Calvin Fleming, of Columbia, was charged on Friday with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and driving without a license in a crash that killed Terry L. Walker, 64. A motion to set bond was filed on Friday.

According to the probable cause statement, Fleming was driving a 2011 Ford Escape north on Range Line Street and Walker was riding a moped that was heading south in the northbound lanes. The Ford hit the moped, Walker was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries, police wrote.

Fleming gave police a breath sample and his blood alcohol content was .227, nearly three times the limit to drive, the statement says.

Police also got a search warrant for a blood draw and Fleming’s BAC was registered at .245, the statement says. Court documents say that Fleming also tested positive for fentanyl and benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.
