All eyes on tight US House races in California as GOP on threshold of controlling the chamber

AP Political Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Republicans and Democrats are clawing for crucial U.S. House victories in California, as the GOP moved within one win of maintaining control of the chamber. In a rematch from 2022, Rep. Ken Calvert defeated rival Democrat Will Rollins in a district east of Los Angeles. Calvert is the longest-serving Republican in the state’s congressional delegation. Earlier in the day, Republican Scott Baugh conceded his race against Democrat Dave Min in a Southern California district. The Associated Press has not yet declared a winner in that contest because thousands of ballots have not yet been counted. The seat is being vacated by Democratic Rep. Katie Porter.
