As the transition unfolds, Trump eyes one of his favorite targets: US intelligence

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump has long criticized America’s spy agencies, accusing them of trying to undermine his first administration and campaign to retake the White House. Trump announced Tuesday that he’s nominating former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to lead the CIA. Trump has promised to clean house and overhaul such agencies, actions that critics say could set back U.S. intelligence efforts and undermine the country’s global position. The nation’s intelligence agencies say they stand ready to assist the new president. Experts say the relationship between the incoming administration and the civil servants who work for the nation’s espionage services could get rocky.
