SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A judge has set an early 2025 trial date for a former Georgia district attorney charged with interfering with police investigating the killing of Ahmaud Arbery. Senior Judge John R. Turner ordered Tuesday that jury selection will begin Jan. 21 in Glynn County for the trial of former District Attorney Jackie Johnson. She was the county’s top prosecutor in February 2020 when Arbery was fatally shot after being chased by three white men who spotted the young Black man running in their neighborhood. Johnson recused herself office from the case, but was later indicted on misconduct charges. She has pleaded not guilty. The judge also scheduled a Dec. 11 hearing for final legal motions in the case.
