Illinois Democrats defend US House seats across the state with 1 race too early to call

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Democrats in congressional races across the state are fending off challenges from Republicans. One race remained too early to call Wednesday. Among the most competitive were two involving two first-term representatives in northern Illinois. Congressman Eric Sorensen won over Republican Joe McGraw, while Rep. Nikki Budzinski was ahead of first-time Republican candidate Joshua Loyd. To boost turnout, Democrats have put three non-binding advisory questions on the ballot. They cover topics including property tax relief, insurance coverage of in vitro fertilization and election worker interference.
