Jefferson City Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises over $65,000

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Walk to End Alzheimer's raised over $65,000 as of Sunday.

264 people showed up to the walk showing support for the Alzheimer's Association, carrying purple, blue, yellow and orange flowers to show their connection to the disease. Walk to End Alzheimer's Committee member Haley Johannpeter said she finds this to be the most compelling part of the walk.

"Today was especially special because we did have a couple residents, one that does have Alzheimer’s on the stage," Johannnpeter said.

The walk aims to raise $133,000 this year. Last year, the walk raised over $104,000.

Those who wish to make a donation can do so at the Alzheimer's Association's website.
