Man arrested in Denver-area shooting and taken to hospital along with female victim, police say

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — Police say they’ve arrested a man in a shooting at an apartment building in the Denver suburb of Broomfield and taken him and a female victim to a hospital. A police spokesperson says officers negotiated with the suspect for 3 1/2 hours on Thursday before using force to enter an apartment at the Arista Flats complex where he was holding a woman hostage. One officer fired his weapon. Neighbors reported hearing up to 50 gunshots coming from the complex. Broomfield is a city of about 75,000 people roughly 15 miles from Denver.
