Man dies in private pond Saturday in Harrisburg
HARRISBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)
A 32-year-old man died in a private pond late afternoon Saturday, according to Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp.
Blomenkamp told ABC 17 News that the man was visiting friends in the 7000 block of W Sweringen Road in Harrisburg. Blomenkamp said the department was dispatched at 4:16 p.m.
The man was pronounced dead on scene, according to Blomenkamp.
Blomenkamp was unable to confirm if the death was drowning-related and referred ABC 17 News to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Capt. Brian Leer, of the Boone County Sheriff's Office, confirmed in a statement Sunday via text message to ABC News that the man's body was recovered.
"The Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division responded to assisting locating and recovering the victim's body. There was one deceased male recovered," the statement reads. "There is no reason to believe at this time that it was anything other than a tragic accident."
