Associated Press

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Police say two people were killed and three others injured in Independence Day violence in a Southern California beach city. A city spokeswoman says Friday that police arrested a 26-year-old Huntington Beach resident on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Authorities say they found the victims when they responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon Thursday night in Huntington Beach. The city spokeswoman says the attack broke out in a crowded area near downtown less than two hours after fireworks ended. The neighborhood street was blocked off by crime scene tape and the county coroner removed two bodies Friday morning.
