Flood Warning issued July 3 at 1:40AM CDT until July 3 at 7:45AM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO

* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Portions of central, north central, and west central
Missouri, including the following counties, in central Missouri,
Cooper, Howard, Pettis and Saline. In north central Missouri,
Chariton. In west central Missouri, Johnson and Lafayette.

* WHEN…Until 745 AM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 140 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible
in the warned area.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Marshall, Boonville, Odessa, Higginsville, Fayette,
Concordia, Slater, Sweet Springs, Glasgow, New Franklin,
Pilot Grove, Corder, Alma, Armstrong, Malta Bend, Blackburn,
Houstonia, Mayview, Lake Lafayette and Emma.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
