Citizens set to protest Israel-Hamas war at Senators’ Columbia Offices Thursday afternoon
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
People will gather in Columbia Thursday afternoon to protest the death toll of Palestinians and Gazans in the Israel-Hamas war.
The protest is set to take place outside Senators Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt's Columbia offices.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. at the St. Francis House on Rangeline. The group plans to walk to the Atkins Building on Wilkes Blvd. and then to the senator's offices.
According to a news release, the group will ask senators' staffers if their bosses continue supporting Israel's, what the group is calling genocide, of Gazans or if they now advocate for a ceasefire.
The release also stated that if protestors learn if one or both senators want to continue the war overseas, the group will post dozens of photos outside the office. Some protestors will also read out loud some of the over 32,000 names of Gazan civilians who have been killed since fighting began in October.
Organizers also stated in the news release that there are some people prepared to risk getting arrested for their planned non-violent actions to "help humanize for the senators and their workers."
