Candidate filing for the August Primary begins Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Candidate filing for the August primary begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and closes on March 26th at 5 p.m.

Candidate filing will be held in the James C . Kirkpatrick State Information Center located at 600 West Main Street in Jefferson City.

Offices that file with the Secretary of State in 2024:

  • U.S. Senate
  • 8 U.S. Representatives
  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Secretary of State
  • Attorney General
  • State Treasurer
  • 17 State Senators – odd-numbered districts
  • 163 State Representatives
  • Various Circuit Court Judges*
  • Associate Circuit Court judges file with the local election authority

Documents needed for filings include a paid receipt for the filing fee.

The fee's are as followed:

  • $500 - Statewide office or U.S. Senator
  • $300 - U.S. Represenative, Circuit Judge, or State Senator
  • $150 - State Represenative

Individials planning to file for office must possess a paid filing fee receipt for a political party, a copy of an affidavit filed with the Department of Revenue and proof of identity.

We plan to have a crew at the Secretary of State's Office in Jefferson City, when filing opens at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
